Born in Santiago Isabela to Felimon & Anastacia Catacutan, Restituto "Resty" Amurao Catacutan, he graduated from the University of East, Philippines with an Accounting degree. He later become a Certified Public Accountant. With an interest in improving the community, Resty became the Vice-Mayor of Tumauini, Isabela thus was the first step of his dedication to the Filipino communities worldwide.
Resty arrived in the United States in 1975 as an Accountant. He learned of the challenges of starting a new life in the United States and adapting to the American culture. He found comfort and support by getting involved in the community and organizations. Resty engaged himself with local Filipino clubs such as the Salinas Barangay Lions, FIL-AM Civic League, Filipino Community and ARAW (Arts, Research, Acculturation Workshop) where he held positions as Founder, President and Treasurer. Resty became affiliated with international organization such as the Masonic Temple and the Scottish Rite. He dedicated over 30 years of his life working within these organizations with goal of enriching lives and helping to promote education.
Retired at the age of 42, Resty became an entrepreneur investing in various real-estate and business ventures. Through the success of these businesses, he became the benefactor for many individual college students. Through his affiliations, he led many fund-raising activities to provide scholarships to Filipino-American students in Salinas.
Resty's philosophy of giving back to the community stems from his gratitude to those who helped him have a successful and well-lived life. Resty passed away at the age of 64 in 2005. He is survived by his wife Juanie, four children, in-laws, seven grand children and extended circle of friends and family. This foundation is a tribute to his legacy and to ensure that there is continued support for education within the Filipino and Filipino-American communities worldwide.
